Well... instead of the supposed alien squid monster being transported in the middle of New York and sort of exploding, they made it seem as it was a sort of bomb done by Dr. Manhattan (who was conveniently in Mars), so he took the blame, and all nations (or rather US and USSR) joined against a common enemy and will keep doing so because they thought Dr. Manhattan was watching.

Well... That kind of... sucks. I didn't think the ending could actually suck worse, too. And I don't see how that would actually work, either -- Dr. M being so solidly on the American side and all, it wouldn't logically work to get the whole world to drop their arms and cooperate -- they'd just gang up on America, and then go back to fighting.

*Sigh*

Ok, so at least did this allow them to cut that HUGE exposition bomb of Ozzy's there at the end? Or does he still spend thirty pages monologueing?

	Ok, that's where you're right. He is totally a narcissist, and he does love nothing better than to talk about how awesome he is. Overall though, in your opinion, did the changed ending damage the story continuity for you? Or does it stand reasonably well on its own two feet? (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Considering the original ending was kinda silly too but didn't damage the story continuity... this new one didn't hurt much, expect for the disappointment of not seeing the supposed alien squid monster :P
I guess the idea was ZOMG IF DR. MANHATTAN CAN ATTACK HIS OWN COUNTRY WHAT CAN BE DO AGAINST HIM? WE MUST UNITE AGAINST A BIGGER FORCE! Of course, as in the original story, Dr. Manhattan gets his shiny blue arse out of the galaxy to create more logical less assholy life forms. But your average Joe or Jane didn't get to know that :P
Oh Ozzy, dear Ozzy... you're so silly sometimes I want to smack you then pinch your arse...
There are a lot of little changes through the movies (besides the parts they cut) and it was a fun game I had with my geeky friend to spot them all.

Good. I can always forgive a movie for not living up to the source material, so long as it can stand up on its own. For instance, if one hadn't ever READ the Hellblazer comics, the Constantine movie was a passable horror/fantasy flick, although with a quite wooden hero, admittedly. And V for Vendetta, I felt, did a good job of making the transition from comic to movie format, along with a timely adjustment of the political trappings so they'd seem relevant, but still deliver the moral of the comic. So long as Watchmen can manage that, I'm ready to like it.
